Cross Country

We take part in a number of cross-country activities throughout the year.  We participate in the Kent Fitness League during the Winter. Not all races are this muddy!!

Bromley Veterans has taken part in this league for some years now. The off-road course is always an approximate 5 mile run around beautiful parts of the Kent countryside. Most runs start at 11am on a Sunday. It’s a great way to spend Sunday morning, with BVAC being renowned amongst the other clubs competing as having the best post-race refreshments, as we always try to take along hot drinks and homemade cakes!

The races are all on Sunday mornings starting at 1100 (except Knole Park):

Sun 12 Nov - Swanley Park, Swanley

Sun 19 Nov - Oxleas Wood, Eltham

Sun 26 Nov - Knole Park, Sevenoaks (0900)

Sun 7 Jan - Minnis Bay, Birchington

Sun 14 Jan - Betteshanger Country Park, Deal

Sun  4 Feb - All Hallows. Isle of Grain

Sun 25 Feb - Blean Woods, Canterbury

The League will be using numbers with Chip Timing. All participants will need to register in advance and pay £25 for their chip for the season (this includes the £2 to enter each race). You can still sign up during the season, but there will be no on-the-day entries

The first 8 men (to include 2x M40+, 2x M50+, 1x M60+) and the first 5 women (to include 1x F35+,1x F45+ 1x F55+) finishers in each club score points, depending on their position. All finishers contribute to their club’s position by helping to keep down the scores of runners from other clubs. As well as the overall club competition, there are prizes for the first 5 men and the first 3 women as well as individual winners in each age group at the end of the season.

Car-sharing for these meetings can be arranged and is encouraged, as parking space is limited. (Please offer the driver a contribution to the petrol cost). We usually try to organise a coach for Minnis Bay.

More information will be sent to members nearer the time. Contact  James Ward for more information or to register your interest - use and we will make sure he gets your message.

Also, more details and results will be found at

On a Wednesday and Sunday mornings we aim to have a cross country club run depending upon the availability of Run Leaders (and Note - not on KFL Sundays). Please check the Run Schedule, which is sent out to members weekly by WhatsApp, email and Facebook, for times and location.

Some popular local races are partly on road and include cross country elements, for example, Petts Wood 10kHigh Elms 10k  and the Harvel 5
